| Located approximately
26 kms. West of Phuket town, Kamala has the relatively 2 km – long
sandy beach with the fresh air, is lined by casuarinas and
surrounded with forest hill. |

Relaxation
in the small seaside community is what you will find
here at Kamala Beach. Formerly a quiet and small fishing
village, Kamala turns to be one of the holiday's delights
within a few years.
It is just the North
of the famous Patong beach which have a quite different
atmosphere. Most of the development is at the southern
part of Kamala beach where a handful of restaurants, cheapish
guesthouses and a couple of mid-range hotels pull the
smallish crowds while the Northern end is pretty much
undeveloped. |
|
| The area behind
the beach has developed over the last few years giving
a greater choice of local places to eat and drink. More
secluded resorts nestle higher up amongst the trees on
the headland, capitalizing on the wonderful sea and mountain
views, and only a few minutes walk to a sandy white beach.
Although Kamala beach
was badly damaged by the 2004 Asian Tsunami and the
majority of the budget guesthouses on the beach were
destroyed, the recovery and development are going on. |

During
High Season (November – April) water
sports take up a lot of space at Kamala beach with
windsurfing, waterskiing, banana boats, fishing trips
and island hopping all running on a daily basis.
On rainy season there is the strong current, anyway,
don't be surprise if you see that there is a great
time for extreme sea sport like surfing.
Kamala does have one big evening attraction. Phuket Fantasea, an amazing Las
Vegas style cultural show complete with pyrotechnics, lasers and elephants. Well
worth seeing. For travelers seeking a compromise between hectic Patong
beach and
places with absolutely no facilities, Kamala is an excellent choice.
